Room-size Persian Sultanabad Mahal carpet in a sought-after pale colour scheme.

This decorative antique furnishing carpet was made around 1900 in the central Persian town of Sultanabad. The field of florals and leaves in shades of green and grey on an off-white ground encloses a large central medallion in the same palette but with a higher proportion of grey in the ground. This pattern is picked up in the spandrels as well as the main border.
