long-established specialists in antique & contemporary hand made rugs & textiles of quality

Established in 1974, we have, over the years, built up a large collection of constantly changing oriental carpets, rugs, runners, Kilims, flatweaves, Jajims, cushions and tribal weavings including saddle bags, animal trappings and tent bands from the traditional areas of carpet production: Persian rugs and carpets in particular, but also Turkish, Caucasian, Turkoman and Afghan as well as Indian, Tibetan and Chinese rugs constitute the majority of our stock.

Our special interest is in tribal and village rugs.

Our modern rugs and carpets in traditional designs are all made to the highest specification using top-grade hand spun wool and natural dyes, which gives them vibrancy and unrivalled wearing qualities.

At the other end of the spectrum in modern carpets are designer pieces, notably work by  Contemporary Rug Art designer Jan Kath, whose superb ever-developing oeuvre takes up a prominent place in our gallery and is a clear statement of zeitgeist. Work by our in-house designer Christopher Legge is becoming more prominent as well.

The selection of textiles in our stock betrays an eclectic sense of the beautiful, ranging from Uzbek silk Ikat coats (Chapans) and Uzbek silk Suzani to Indian silk embroideries and Kalamkari, from Japanese textiles such as Yuzen to  European needlework and tapestries.

Our customers – private individuals, interior designers and public institutions – will always find a welcoming atmosphere in which to choose a rug, make use of our comprehensive carpet library or just enjoy the ambience.
