Description

This large Tekke Turkoman main carpet dates to around 1900 or the early 20th century.

Woven in wool on a wool foundation, it has a field design of five columns of 14 main guls. The quality of the silky wool and of the very fine weave is excellent and perfectly in line with that of Tekke carpets of earlier generations. The dyes, too, are based on natural dye stuffs, with a nicely saturated madder red as the ground colour.

This is a reasonably priced decorative carpet.
