Decorative Antique Persian Hamadan Kelleh

Decorative Antique Persian Hamadan Kelleh

reference:  6974

Highly decorative antique Kelleh, or long carpet, from the Persian Hamadan district dating to about 1900. The Kelleh is in a light colour scheme with a beautifully abrashed pale pink field with an allover design. The central medallion on a black ground is decorated with a gul farang motif and flanked by human figures and a bird.

The field is surrounded by multiple borders, including a main border on a pale yellow ground with a floral motif, which is sometimes called a “crab border”.

This is a decorative carpet which will add a touch of light to a room. It is woven with a wool pile on a cotton foundation and is in good condition.
