Description

Caucasian runner from the Gendje area dating to about 1900, with the popular field design of diagonal stripes filled with flowers and occasional animal motifs. The sequence of borders, with two minor borders in a meandering floral pattern enclosing the main border of a chain of octagons, is also typical of carpets from this area. The colours are vibrant and all naturally dyed.

The runner has some repairs and some corrosion in the black; the top end is very slightly reduced and there are small areas of slight wear, but it is overall in good condition.
