Antique Tibetan Tsuktruk
Description
This antique Tibetan tsuktruk dates to the late 19th century.
It is woven in wool on a wool foundation. Four narrow strips of around 18 cm width have been assembled to form the complete piece.
The dye is derived from the madder root providing a warm, saturated red, which is nicely abrashed, with subtle variations in the red. This gives the tsuktruk a feel of calm and clear simplicity. It can be used as a beautiful piece of textile art on the wall as well as on the floor.
