Tekke Turkoman Rug

Tekke Turkoman Rug

176 x 129 cm / 5'10''x 4'3''

Turkoman rug made by a member of the Tekke tribe and dating to about 1900. These rugs are sometimes called “Bokhara”, which is, strictly speaking, a misnomer since the term “Bokhara” is merely a reference to the trading place where these rugs were marketed.

This Tekke rug has a field design of three columns of ten guls which are set within a Saryk border. The quality of the naturally dyed wool in a madder red is excellent.

The wool pile is woven on a wool foundation and the condition is excellent – a timeless classic
