Decorative Delhi Shawl
Description
This decorative Delhi shawl is worked in floss silk on a finely woven gauze.
Like on another Delhi shawl on this website (see https://www.christopherleggeorientalcarpets.com/products/view/antique-delhi-shawl/ ), the ends are richly embroidered with a profusion of flowers. They are contained in a square which frames three botehs, each over a small circular design, and each embellished with a central stem with mainly red and white flowers. Different shades of predominantly green, yellow and blue complete the abundance of colour and shape.
And as with the shawl mentioned above, this shawl’s field of black gauze is enclosed by a floral border worked in the same style and colour scheme as the ends. The gauze in the example in hand has the addition of ten rows of small flower heads, mainly in red, white and orange.

The textile is in very good condition, with one very small hole in the gauze.
