Description

This Persian Heriz carpet is dating to about 1900. It has a classic Heriz design with an eight-lobed central medallion which has concentric cruciform motifs in its centre. The leaf patterns of the medallion are echoed in the spandrels which are set on a white ground. The field on a warm, terracotta-red ground is enclosed by a Herati main border on a dark blue ground, which, in turn, is flanked by two minor meandering borders.

The carpet is woven with a wool pile on a cotton foundation and is in excellent condition, with a perfect pile. All the colours are naturally dyed.
