Amu Darya region, mid 19th century. Two columns of six guls, with each of the gulli guls different from any of the others, and wonderfully varied secondary elements, all in very soft colours. The original drawing and the relatively small size are an indication of an early date. Wool on wool, goat hair for sides. A few old repairs, overall full pile and excellent condition. This is a carpet with real presence
