Antique Caucasian Kazak

Antique Caucasian Kazak

258 x 200 cm

This antique Caucasian Kazak dates to the early 20th century.

It has the field design of a Sewan Kazak, with the central ornament in a cruciform shape on a blue ground enclosed by a white band with hooked motifs. The main border is typically found in a Bordjalou Kazak; it is flanked by red and green reciprocal borders.

Clear, stylized ornamentation and strong colours are typical features of Kazak rugs and desirable characteristics for lovers of Caucasian carpets.
