Description

This decorative Tekke Turkoman Main Carpet dates to about 1900.

It has the classic field design of columns and rows of main guls, in this case fifteen by five. They are placed on a warm red ground achieved through dyeing the wool with dye stuffs derived from the madder root.The guls are connected through a grid of dark blue lines, with the secondary elements in the spaces in between the main guls.

The size quoted is excluding the fringe.

This is a popular type of furnishing carpet in very good condition and reasonably priced.
