Description

This is a sweet Persian Bidjar rug of small size and squarish proportions.

The field is an all over design of florals set on a white ground of undyed wool. It is framed by a sequence of three meandering borders with floral patterns, two on a soft green ground flanking a slightly wider one on a red ground.

The colour scheme is characterised by the softness of colour ranging from dark blue and brown to a warm red and a pale pink secondary red, to shades of green and turquoise as well as a warm yellow. All colours have been derived from natural dye stuffs.

This, and the quality of the wool and weave make this a very worthy contemporary rendition of a traditional Kurdish design.
