Central Asian, 19th century; silk ikat weave, Ferghana Valley; several panels reassembled and with Russian printed cotton backing to form this beautifully graphic piece. Almost identical to the material used in a man’s coat in the Tairov Collection, published in the catalogue to accompany the exhibition of his collection at the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts: Ikats from Turkestan.
