Uzbek Belt
Description
This Uzbek belt dates tot he late 19th century. It is an exquisite silk needlework with silk ikat lining. The clasp is constructed from a thin gilded silver sheet on a copper core and is inlaid with turquoise. Two knife sheaths and a bag hang from the belt, which has silk braiding on the edges.
Such belts were a badge of officialdom and nobility.
This is an outstanding textile of museum quality; it is in excellent condition
