Description

Contemporary Persian Sultanabad carpet in the tradition of the 19th-century so-called “Ziegler carpets”. These were made in workshops in the Sultanabad area for the Manchester Ziegler company and served the European market with a taste for florals and often soft colours.

The example in hand is firmly placed in that line of design. It is woven in the traditional way, with naturally dyed wool and a generous, open field.

This is a decorative carpet of great quality.
