Kurdish Persian Carpet
Description
This beautiful Kurdish Persian carpet was woven in 2022.
Its shamim design of florals is set within a loosely drawn grid of white tendrils and is a very successful contemporary rendition of a classical vase carpet.
The ground colour of the field ranges from a soft light blue to an equally soft, warm green. Both colours are beautifully abrashed and serve as a perfect backdrop for the multitude of flowers which are mainly held in orange, red and shades of blue. They appear either as large individual flower heads placed on the tendrils, in the centres of the lozenges formed by the tendrils and along a central vertical axis, or as shrubs with much smaller flowers, mostly in white and shades of red.
The border of large flower heads on a dark blue ground echoes the colours and designs of the field and frames the carpet in a most satisfactory manner.
The quality of the wool, the natural dyes and of the weaving is outstanding.
This is a jewel and contemporary carpet weaving at its best.
