Ersari Engsi
Description
This Turkoman Ersari engsi dates to around 1900.
It follows the classic format of these door rugs, with four central panels being separated by a large horizontal bar and two vertical bars with a cruciform centre to the diamonds in the middle. They both end in three hook designs at the top.
For further discussion of engsis on this website, see, for instance, an example which is a generation older, https://www.christopherleggeorientalcarpets.com/products/view/early-ersari-engsi/.
This is an honest rug with naturally dyed wool and in very good condition.
