Description

This small furnishing carpet was made by a Kurdish weaver. The large, imaginative  variety of flower heads, mostly appearing in pairs, are connected through a network of loosely drawn stems, with  a vase design below the centre of the rug and a blue-ground main border with a meandering floral pattern framing it. The field design is set on a red ground which is based on the dye derived from the root of the madder plant. All other colours are also naturally dyed.

Bidjar carpets have always been renowned for the dense quality of their weave, and this charming carpet is no exception. With its design a successful modern interpretation of a traditional pattern, the great quality of wool and dyes and the skills of the weaver, this carpet will add warmth and liveliness to any home.
