Description

Silk and metal thread on fine linen worked in a variety of stitches including Tambour and darning stitches. Possibly a fragment from a bedspread border, 18th century. A similar piece is published in Pauline Johnstone, A Guide to Greek Island Embroidery. Victoria&Albert Museum, London 1972, illustration 104, p.88, which is attributed to Epirus
