Decorative French 18th century tapestry panel after a cartoon by Jean-Baptiste Pillement (1728-1808), the cosmopolitan 18th century designer and painter. It shows strong chinoiserie influences – a style which was very popular throughout Europe in the 18th century and often featured fantastic landscapes including fabulous birds and pagoda-style buildings – all elements present in this textile. Tapestry weave in wool and silk. Some repairs, overall good condition, with very fresh colours, and  a size which is easy to accommodate
