Antique Chinese saddle rug
Baotou-Suiyuan, late 19th century. Made in two pieces, the edges re-inforced by red Tibetan tie-dyed woollen cloth. The border decoration contains Buddhist symbols (conch shell, wheel, lotus flower) as well as symbols of accomplishment (chess board, books, paintings).
